All Valley-Wide Health Systems sites are now on an Electronic Health Records system (EHR). This allows for more immediate access to your health records in any other Valley-Wide medical, dental, physical therapy or anti-coagulation clinic. The EHR also allows Valley-Wide Health Systems to send your prescription directly to your chosen pharmacy electronically, when allowable.
What is an EHR?
EHR stands for Electronic Health Record. It is a digital version of a patient’s health record. An electronic health record is a systematic collection of electronic health information about a patient. EHRs include a range of data, including, patient’s demographic information, medical, family and social history, medication and allergies, immunization status, laboratory test results, radiology images, vital signs, personal statistics like age and weight, and billing information.
What are the Benefits of an EHR?
An EHR provides access to a patient’s record at all times. This access may be from any location by authorized viewers within Valley-Wide using a secure platform. An EHR allows for an entire patient history to be viewed without the need to track down the patient’s previous paper medical chart. It assists in ensuring data is timely, accurate, appropriate and legible. It reduces the chances of repeated medical tests or procedures as there is only one modifiable electronic file, which means the file is constantly up to date when viewed and eliminates the issue of lost forms or paperwork.
