Valley Wide Receives Grant

From Valley Courier 7/14 Edition

Another excellent USDA Rural Development project in Alamosa County has been awarded. A $50,000 Community Facilities Grant was funded to Valley Wide Health Systems, Inc. for patient transportation assistance.

This Rural Development investment will be used to purchase four new passenger vehicles to provide transportation services to patients that currently do not have access to public or private transportation. Valley-Wide serves a patient population that is economically disadvantaged, impoverished, and historically underserved at health centers located in the San Luis Valley, Arkansas Valley, and Canon City.

This is just one recent example of Rural Development’s investments in the rural Colorado economy through 45+ programs that provide grants, direct loans, and loan guarantees to constituents, businesses, nonprofits, and local governments. “Valley-Wide truly appreciates the USDA’s continued investment in rural Colorado communities. Many of the programs that Valley-Wide has been able to implement have been due to the funding received from USDA Rural Development funds.” Said Valley-Wide’s Chief Financial Officer Javier Martinez.

“This particular awarded grant funding will help Valley-Wide break down the transportation barrier to care and social determinants of health that many in our service area experience. “

USDA Rural Development is committed to improving the quality of life and creating pathways to prosperity in rural Colorado by providing assistance that supports infrastructure, business development, housing, community facilities, and high-speed internet access.
